The financial privacy of our members is a top priority of Cabway Telco Federal Credit Union. We are committed to providing our members with competitive products and services to meet their financial needs, which necessitates that we share information about them to complete their transactions and to provide them with certain financial opportunities. In order to do so, we may from time to time enter into agreements with other companies that provide either service to us or additional financial products for members to consider. In compliance with section 502(b) of the Gramm-Leach-Bliley (GLB) Act of November, 1999, we (a financial institution) can provide non-public information, personal information to a nonaffiliated third party, provided the financial institution discloses this activity to its members. The third party must meet all these requirements:
1. Is classified as a financial institution;
2. Offers financial products as part of a joint agreement
between the two institutions.
3. Maintains the confidentiality of all non-public, personal information.
Under these arrangements, Cabway Telco Federal Union may disclose all of the information we collect, as described below, to companies that perform marketing or other services on our behalf or to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements. To protect our members’ privacy, we will only work with companies that agree to maintain strong confidentiality protections and limit the use of information we provide. We will not permit these companies to sell to other third parties the information we provide to them.
Information We Collect and Disclose About Members
We may collect the following non-public personal information about members from a variety of sources and may disclose all the information we collect to companies that perform marketing services on our behalf to other financial institutions with whom we have joint marketing agreements.
a) From membership and loan applications and other forms, we obtain information such as name, address, social security number and income.
b) From member transactions with us or other companies that work closely with us to provide payment history, parties to transactions, and credit card usage.
c) From consumer reporting agencies, we obtain information such as member’s creditworthiness and credit history.
d) From verifications of information members provide on applications and other forms, we obtain information from current or past employees, other financial institutions and other sources listed on the application.
We may also disclose information we collect about members under other circumstances as permitted or required by law. These disclosures typically include information to process transactions on members’ behalf, conduct the operations of our credit union, follow members’ instructions as authorized, or protect the security of our financial records.
If a member terminates membership with Cabway Telco Federal Credit Union, we will not share information we have collected about members, except as permitted or required by law.
How We Protect Member Information
We restrict access to non-public personal information about members to those employees who have a specified business purpose in utilizing member data. Our employees will be trained in the importance of maintaining confidentiality and member privacy. We maintain physical electronic and procedures safeguards that comply with federal regulations and leading industry practices to safeguard members’ non-public personal information.
